The Huntsman Cancer Hospital at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City was originally built as a 50-bed inpatient and outpatient facility. This program and design expands the inpatient area to 100 beds including intensive care and 15 bone marrow transplant beds. The outpatient area is complemented by a 16-exam room suite of additional outpatient clinic area. A replacement of the infusion area with a 36-bed infusion suite offers stunning views of the Salt Lake Valley and Oquirrh Mountains. Other aspects include a one-of-a-kind surgery/MRI suite combination, a 4-room operating suite expansion, additional radiographic capability and a dedicated breast care clinic with diagnostic and treatment capabilities. The result is a 156,000-sq-ft expansion on 6 levels. Phase 2B began May 2008 and will conclude in mid-2011.
