The new 330,000 sq ft. Westlake High School in Saratoga Springs, Utah consists of two, 2-story classroom wings. The structure and finish consist of reinforced load bearing CMU, Atlas brick, Arrriscraft stone cladding, honed and split-face masonry with steel bar joist and wide flange beam sections.
The school design features one primary large gym and two smaller auxiliary gyms. The main gym has an abundance of natural day lighting through skylights and clerestory translucent panels.
The mechanical system is a variable air system with hot water reheat coils. The system includes 14 air handlers with chilled water cooling coils and hot water preheat coils. There are two 85% efficient gas-fired boilers for peak usage and one 95% high efficiency boiler for the normal heating loads. There are two water-cooled variable speed chillers and two cooling towers. Slated for completion July 2009.
