This project consist of the two-story main high school building, a vo-ag education center, and numerous press-boxes/concession stands for various sporting events, totaling 255,971 sq ft. Site development for the new school began in March of 2009 and the entire project is expected to be completed by summer 2011.
The structure is a combination of structural CMU and steel framing with CMU veneer, allowing different building areas to be built separately by different contractors to expedite the construction schedule. Unique site improvements include artificial turf on the football field, recessed softball and baseball dugouts, a performance soccer field with berm seating, and a post-tensioned concrete tennis court facility. Permeable pavers are utilized for efficient drainage and reduction of the “heat island” effect associated with traditional asphalt and concrete paving. Skylights are strategically placed throughout the building, and the “sawtooth” roof system at the Cafeteria area allows additional natural light into the space.
