This massive facility in Tooele County, Utah will ultimately include nine two-story buildings on a 125-acre site totaling an estimated 2,000,000 sq ft. It is the first ‘Greenfield’ (built from scratch) titanium sponge plant to be built in the U.S. in over 30 years, according to Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Technologies spokesperson Dan Greenfield. The plant is located next to US Mag Corp, which produces magnesium, a key element in the production of titanium sponge. The main facility is more than 1,400 ft. long, 80 ft. high, with an interior clear span of 110 ft.
