This 245,000-sq-ft facility will have an open and simple floor plan that reflects the clear, straightforward learning opportunities available to the students. It will offer a high degree of security and comfort for both students and faculty. The facility employs three large common spaces central to and anchoring the activities of athletics, performing arts, and career technology education. The building is two stories with a winding sky bridge through the commons that connects the second floor academic communities, providing a synergistic visual connection between floors. Natural light from large, plentiful windows and clear stories highlight the strategic design to make spaces transparent and free-flowing. Gorgeous views of nearby mountain peaks will be framed in many of the classrooms as well as the common areas of the building in order to make the school a more pleasant learning environment. Principles of green building are to be employed freely in the facility, with daylighting combined with carefully balanced HVAC systems to help ensure low operations and maintenance costs.
