This 192,000-sq-ft, seven-level facility in St. George, Utah will house most outpatient services for Dixie Regional Medical Center as well as a pain management center, comprehensive spine program, and an extensive adult and pediatric rehabilitation services center. The pavilion features significant shell space for the expansion of all rehabilitation services, rapidly filling out with orthopedic, spine, neurology, sleep testing, and plastic surgery clinics. These services are vital to the special needs of children who are working to overcome challenges associated with disabilities, developmental delays, accidents, serious illness and injuries. Providing pediatric physical, occupational, neurological and speech therapy services within the Dixie community will allow children and parents to stay close to home while endeavoring to overcome these special challenges. Currently such services are only available along the Wasatch front or in Las Vegas.
The facility is situated just east of the River Road Hospital building, connected by a pedestrian bridge over the natural riparian wash that bisects the campus. The design and configuration of the building were purposefully oriented to harmonize with the rest of the campus. The building area was previously a part of the flood plain of the wash and the design features a drilled pier foundation system capped by a structural steel frame and concrete fill metal deck system. The exterior of the building is composed of window walls and plaster with a single-ply roofing system. Slated for completion July 2009.
