Cement Deep-Soil Mixing

Cement deep-soil mixing was recently used to improve the soil matrix to provide foundation support for the embankment of the new Beck Street Bridge which is currently under construction on Interstate 15 in North Salt Lake City, Utah. The bridge is being replaced as part of a Utah Department of Transportation express lane addition on the freeway. Proximity of the project near utilities and railroad tracks, seismic requirements and time constraints posed challenges for the construction team. Cement deep-soil mixing was used to meet those challenges by providing soil stability while not disturbing utilities or railroad tracks in the process. Deep-soil mixing also proved an effective cost-cutting measure by reducing the duration of foundation work, allowing the project to proceed on an accelerated schedule. Full Story >>
