| Cameron Construction Welcomes New Partners
After more than three decades as the leader of the company he founded in 1973, John Cameron officially welcomed two new partners June 27 at Salt Lake City-based Cameron Construction – including his son Kevin Cameron, along with Dave Hill.
Kevin Cameron was named president and in charge of construction, while Hill becomes the secretary/treasurer and general manager. John Cameron remains company CEO.
Kevin Cameron has worked 22 years for his father’s company, while Hill has more than 20 years experience in construction. John Cameron said Kevin’s transition into the role of president is one that will be a long-term benefit to the company.
“We’re formally doing this so when I decide to retire, everything keeps going,” said the elder Cameron. “I’m staying on at least the next five years – I’m in no hurry to retire. I still like being involved in projects.”
Kevin Cameron knew Hill from when he was with Bud Bailey Construction, and having two more company leaders seemed like a sound idea.
“To a certain degree, it’s good to have a little diversity (with leadership),” said John Cameron. “They balance each other out to make sure you’re going down the right path and making good decisions.”
Cameron Construction is currently building the Temple Har Shalom, a Jewish synagogue in Park City, Utah that is slated for completion in November, and has four projects in the works along the Wasatch Front for Ken Garff Automotive Group, including a Nissan dealership in Salt Lake, a West Valley Dodge dealership, an auto body repair shop in Clearfield, and a Ford auto parts warehouse in American Fork.
