VICS Celebrates 60 Years in Business/Colvin Earns Energy Star Award/H.W. Lochner Opens an Office in St. George
Founded in 1950, ICS hosted an open house this fall in Salt Lake, which was attended by several former top company executives.

Intermountain Concrete Specialties celebrated its 60th year in business with an open-house celebration September 11 at their headquarters in Salt Lake City. The firm was founded in 1950.
The event featured numerous vendor booths, prize drawings a BBQ luncheon, and a grand prize giveaway of an ATV, which was won by Jim Gierloff of Geneva Pipe of Orem, Utah.
Six of ICS’ past owners were also on hand to celebrate the historic event.
“It’s amazing to be in business for 60 years in any industry,” says current ICS president Tony Frazier. “We’ve been blessed to have great patrons over the years and we certainly appreciate our patrons and their loyalty to us. We wouldn’t be here without them.”
Colvin Engineering’s Office Earns Energy Star Award
Colvin Engineering Associates’ headquarters in Salt Lake City has received the Energy Star Award for 2009 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This award spotlights the building as being a top facility for energy performance.

Energy Star is a joint program of the EPA and the U.S. Dept. of Energy, helping to protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. Energy Star-rated commercial buildings gain certification by being in the top 25% of facilities in the nation for energy performance.
“Colvin Engineering is proud to be recognized for this achievement,” says principal Steve Connor. “As leaders in sustainable design in Utah, we feel we must practice what we preach. Our historic building achieving Energy Star is a testimony to our goal of supporting our company and clients on a path to net zero energy consumption.”
Colvin Engineering is a 28-person mechanical engineering firm founded by Tom Colvin in Salt Lake City in 1986.
H.W. Lochner Opens St. George Office
H.W. Lochner recently opened its newest office in St. George, Utah. The new office is located at 113 East 200 North. Working as an extension of Lochner’s Salt Lake City office, the St. George branch is providing civil engineering, planning, environmental, and construction management services for the Utah Dept. of Transportation, local municipalities, the Dixie MPO, and other public and private entities.
“It’s exciting to be a part of the rapidly growing Dixie area,” says office manager H.G. Kunzler. “Over the last five years, Lochner has been fortunate to assist area communities with their infrastructure improvements. We look forward to enhancing our service to these communities with a local office and local staff.”
American Buildings Co. Adds Cameron to Network
American Buildings Co. of Eufaula, Ala., a leading domestic and international manufacturer and marketer of high-quality metal building systems for industrial, commercial, and institutional construction markets, added Salt Lake-based Cameron Construction to its national network of builders in October.

Reaveley Named One of Best Structural Engineers to Work For
Reaveley Engineers + Associates of Salt Lake City was ranked 14th among the Best Structural Engineering Firms to Work For in the nation, in an article published by Structural Engineer magazine. In addition, RE+A was ranked 7th in the small firms category. This is the second consecutive year that Reaveley Engineers has been recognized in this capacity. This recognition is an annual assessment of a firm’s commitment to provide employees with an outstanding work environment.
