Viracon to Break Ground on New Facility

Viracon, a manufacturer of high-performance glass products - including architectural windows - recently announced that it will build its third U.S. manufacturing facility
in St. George.

According to Christine Shaffer, marketing manager for Viracon, construction will begin in May on a $25 million facility that is scheduled for completion in April 2007.

"We wanted to expand our market penetration in the west and Utah was selected
over other cities for its economics, workforce and quality of life," said Shaffer.

Viracon manufactures high-performance glass products, including tempered, laminated, insulating, silk-screened and high-performance coatings.

Viracon also operates manufacturing plants in Owatonna, Minn., and Statesboro, Ga.



Melaleuca Center Completed

Camco Construction, Inc., Salt Lake City, recently completed construction on Melaleuca's new distribution center in Idaho Falls. The new 140,000 sq. ft. facility will distribute health, home, and personal care products.

The $10 million facility consists of tilt-up concrete panels, a mezzanine, office space and tower. The exterior of the office is comprised of concrete and brick masonry.
The project was designed by Nielson Bodily Architects.


R&O Constructing Nevada Rec Center

R&O Construction, Ogden, recently began construction on The Club at Mediera Canyon Recreation Center in Henderson, Nev. Construction of the center includes a new pool and state-of-the-art fitness facility with a massage center.

The new recreation center will serve a Del Webb Community in south Las Vegas valley, neighboring Anthem. The project will be completed in December 2006.


Wadsworth Brothers Tackle I-215 Bridge Project

Wadsworth Brothers Construction, Draper, recently was awarded a $4.1 million contract to do rehabilitation work on the Redwood Road bridge over Interstate 215 in North Salt Lake tonight.

The project includes removal and replacement of the bridge deck and roadway repairs at both ends of the bridge. The project required I-215 mainline to be temporarily closed at the Redwood Road structure from April 4-6. It is set for completion in July.


Blacks Creek Rest Area Project Starts

Western Construction, Boise, was awarded a $10.2 million project to rebuild the Blacks Creek Rest Area, located about 10 miles east of Boise. The rest area will remain closed until the project is finished in the winter of 2006-07.
