Beecher Walker Architects of Salt Lake City is designing
Thanksgiving Park, a large Class A corporate office park in
Lehi, Utah, that is slated to begin sometime in the summer
of '07. Negotiations have begun with a general contractor.
The project sits on a 38-acre site and will eventually include
five buildings and 710,000 sq. ft. of total office space,
in addition to 30,000 sq. ft. of supporting retail.
"It's going to be an amazing project," said Jory
Walker, principal with Beecher Walker Architects. "We've
been doing a lot of great Class A office projects and this
one will certainly be another one on that list."
Layton Building Four Seasons in Vail
Ski and snow enthusiasts who visit Vail, Colo. will soon have
a new place to kick up their heels after a long day on the slopes.
Layton Construction Company of Sandy, Utah began construction
on the Four Seasons Residence Club Vail in February. Four Seasons,
a leader in resort luxury, has awarded Layton the contract to
build the $145 million project that includes a hotel, private
residences and fractional club residences. Layton will work
with Hill Glazier Architects of Palo Alto, Calif. on the project.
When complete, Four Seasons Residence Club Vail will occupy
361,473 sq. ft. stretching across a 2.7-acre site just off the
interstate into Vail. The project is part of a major billion
dollar revitalization of Vail.
The project consists of the construction of a condo/hotel with
10 floors. The five-star hotel will include 120 rooms, 16 private
residences and 19 fractional units. Additionally, the resort
will house 11,000 square feet of meeting space, a grand ballroom,
spa and fitness center, bar and restaurant, four retail shops
and a library. The resort site will also include a heated outdoor
pool and an underground heated parking garage.
The Layton team will face the challenge of constructing the
resort on an extremely tight site and will have to implement
efficient site staging and scheduling to successfully complete
the project. Layton's experience with numerous hospitality and
resort projects will ensure that the resort is built to the
standard of quality for which Four Seasons is known.
Construction of the Four Seasons Residence Club Vail is expected
to be complete in August 2009.
WGI Selected for Colorado Natural Gas Project
Washington Group International of Boise has been awarded
a cost-reimbursable contract by ExxonMobil for work at a natural
gas production facility in the Piceance Basin region of Colorado.
Washington Group will provide engineering, procurement and
construction management services for ExxonMobil's Piceance
Development Project near Rifle, Co., approximately 180 miles
west of Denver.
Washington Group will work on the offsite facilities, including
those related to well pads, gathering pipelines, metering
stations, separation facilities, interconnects to a gas plant
to be installed by others, and an administration/maintenance
complex.
The facilities support production of natural gas from a large
gas field in the Piceance Basin that underlies northwest Colorado.
"As energy demands increase, this regional source of
gas is likely to be tapped more and more," said Gary
C. Baughman, president of Washington Group's Industrial/Process
Business Unit. "We're pleased to be working with ExxonMobil
to develop this new energy resource. Our long history of gas-processing
experience in the region will be especially useful for the
project."

ICS Completes Renovation of Stein Eriksen Lodge
Interior Construction Specialists of Sandy, Utah recently
completed $5 million worth of expansion and remodel work to
Stein Eriksen Lodge in Deer Valley in early December 2006. The
renovations add to Stein Eriksen's already world-class facilities.
ICS' scope of work for the project included:
The remodel of dining facilities and the expansion of
Glitrelind Restaurant to a total of 4,760 square feet, an increase
of 65 seats.
The remodel of Toll Hollen Lounge, which is adjacent
to Glitrelind Restaurant and provides access to the nearby Deer
Valley Ski Resort. The remodel more than doubled the size of
the lounge to 1,230 square feet.
The remodel of the lobby in the Main Lodge, along with
expansions to the bar and lounge areas and an expansion to the
kitchen area. Remodel work included a new grand staircase, telescoping
entry doors, deck additions, the installation of a new elevator
cab and renovations to the executive office area, concierges'
desk and Flagstaff Meeting Room.
A renovation to the valet entrance, including two new
sets of stairs.
The addition of new ski lockers, complete with boot dryers
and private changing rooms.
All work had to be carefully coordinated in order to accommodate
the operational needs of the fully functioning hotel, including
a busy restaurant and conference rooms. ICS and the project
team completed the project in stages and built high-quality,
textured and faux-finished temporary walls so as to construct
the project with minimal impact on Stein Eriksen's operations
while providing a nice environment for hotel guests, free from
the distraction of the renovation work.
To keep in harmony with Stein Eriksen Lodge's high-class
facilities, the project team provided extremely high-end finishes
to each aspect of the project. Almost every inch of the finished
product required four to five passes by finish crews to ensure
everything met a standard of excellence.
More renovation and expansion work will continue at Stein
Eriksen Lodge, scheduled to begin in mid-April to coincide
with the close of Deer Valley's ski season and expected to
be complete by mid-November. ICS' scope of work includes a
three-story addition.
