Reaveley Earns 'Best
of State' for Structural Engineering
At the Best of State Awards Gala
June 24, Reaveley Engineers+Associates (RE+A), Salt Lake City,
was recognized as the 2006 Utah Best of State for Structural
Engineering in the Science and Technology Category for the
fourth year in a row. Mark Harris, principal of Reaveley Engineers
accepted the award for the 34 employee firm.
Reaveley Engineers+Associates has more than 34 years of experience
providing structural engineering for many significant structures
in Utah. RE+A is currently involved in the Utah State Capitol
Building Base Isolation and Renovation project. Utah's historic
treasure is being fit with 280 base isolators. These isolators
will separate the building from the ground motion during a
seismic event and allow the building to "float"
on the large rubber bearings. Other current projects the firm
is working on includes the Intermountain Medical Center in
Murray, Utah, the Moran Eye Center located on the University
of Utah campus, and the U's Warnock Engineering Building.
Other recently completed projects include the Huntsman Cancer
Institute and Hospital, and the Salt Lake City Library.
Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction Claims Medalist
Honors
Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction Company, Draper, Utah, was
named a medalist in the 2006 Utah Best of State competition
June 24 in the construction services division for the second
consecutive year. The company was judged on overall quality
and excellence in its performance, products and services.
Other criteria included how the company achieved superior
results and created positive differentiation from others within
its field through innovation and creativity in approaches,
techniques, methods and processes, as well as its contributions
to improving the quality of life in Utah through community
service, charitable contributions, family-friendly employment
policies, environmentally sound practices, increased employment
opportunities and community beautification.
The Best of State awards were founded to recognize outstanding
achievement in the community and bring together the best in
business, education, government and the arts.
