TID held an open house celebration February 7 at its new office in Salt Lake

TID, a Salt Lake City-based firm specializing in demolition work, has relocated to a new office at 870 W. Robinson Drive (200 N.) in Salt Lake. The company held an open house event Feb. 7 to celebrate the occasion.

“It’s a lot better for us,” said Guy Zwhalen, president of TID. “It gives us more office space, more warehouse space, and more yard space. It gives us room to grow.”

“We’re excited to be in a new building,” said KayC Jolley, an estimator and project manager with TID. “Our company has grown significantly the past few years and we needed more space to run our day-to-day business efficiently.”

TID was founded in 1995 and has seen annual revenues climb from $250,000 in ’95 to more than $6 million in 2006.

R&O Construction Recognized

Sandy City honored R&O Construction this week as Sandy City’s “Community Development Contractor of the Year”. In his remarks, Mayor Tom Dolan stated: “Realizing that the relationship between cities and contractors can be at odds over issues like code enforcement and building regulations, it is refreshing to work with a company like R&O Construction. They have always been honest, professional and will do what it takes to get the project done right. When a problem occurs, they don’t look for some easy way out; they join with the city to resolve the problem showing great pride in their work. Doing business with a company like R&O Construction is a pleasure.”

R&O Construction’s Tim Gladwell, vice-president of R&O’s retail operations division, along with Superintendent Shawn Pollard and Project Manager Mike Holland were on hand to receive the award. R&O Construction’s most recent Sandy City project is the Quarry Bend Shopping Village owned by The Boyer Company. R&O Construction is headquartered in Ogden, Utah.

HDR Acquires Boise Firm

Omaha-headquartered HDR Engineering, Inc. has acquired engineering firm Doherty & Associates, Inc., based in Boise. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Going forward, Doherty & Associates, Inc. will conduct business as HDR|Doherty & Associates.

Founded as a sole proprietorship in 1998, Doherty & Associates has become a successful Idaho corporation with professionals focused on personalized service for public- and private-sector clients. The firm specializes in transportation engineering, including preliminary and final design, planning, project management, public involvement and construction observation services.

“HDR is very pleased that the Doherty & Associates team decided to join us,” said HDR president George Little. “They have developed great client relationships and operate from a solid set of values, and will help us significantly expand our transportation operations in Idaho.”

“Joining HDR was the right move for us,” said Doherty & Associates president Karen Doherty. “While I’m proud of the progress we have made as a specialized firm, we can do a lot more as part of HDR. My primary concerns taking this step were that client satisfaction would continue to be a priority and that our employees would have growth opportunities. HDR is the right fit on both counts.”

Under the new corporate structure, Doherty will be the design center manager for many of HDR’s transportation projects in the company’s Western region.
