12300 South, 250 East to 950 West

This interchange reconstruction and widening of 6 mi. will provide a number of improvements. The widening includes 6.2 mi. of the corridor and will result in a consistent cross section of two travel lanes in each direction.
The project will also involve new shoulders, curb and gutter, park strips and sidewalks. Bicycle lanes will be added to each side of the roadway.
Across the Jordan River, the bridge will be replaced with a new wider and longer structure. The project will also upgrade the railroad crossing at the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and will widen many of the intersections along the corridor.
Other project details include raised center islands at certain locations, reconstructing the existing diamond interchange on Interstate 15 at 12300 South to a single-point urban interchange and accommodating bus service with 10-ft. shoulders.
This project, which began in June, is scheduled for final completion in fall 2004.
The general contractor on this UDOT project is GRW Design-Builders, a joint venture of Geneva Rock, Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction Co. and W.W. Clyde.

North Davis Junior High / Clearfield Recreation Center

Hogan & Associates Construction, which originally was hired by Davis School District to replace the aging North Davis Junior High School, will build Clearfield City a new pool and recreation center.
Under an interlocal-cooperative agreement, the recreation center will be built attached to the new school.
The project will be constructed on the school's current playfields. Once it is complete, the old school, which lacks the necessary space for modern educational programs and doesn't meet current codes, will be torn down.
Additionally, Clearfield's Fisher Park will get a new pavilion, skate park and soccer and softball fields all tied together with a walking trail system.
The new 231,000-sq.-ft. junior high and recreation center will feature a groundsource heating and cooling system that will utilize 312 loops that drop 300 ft. into the ground. By pumping water through these loops, the earth is used to help heat and cool the building.
The exterior of the new building will consist of masonry, glass and metal panel construction and will combine high-tech components that accommodate today's educational programs. With Clearfield's contribution, the gymnasium will be larger than traditional school gyms, and the project will include an indoor competition pool, a leisure pool, and an outdoor wading pool and "splash pad" play area.
The nearby South Clearfield Elementary will add a new administration office and realign the school's parking lot and student drop-off routes as part of the overall contract. Scheduled to be complete in the summer of 2005, the entire project is being designed by Naylor Wentworth Lund Architects.
