Coral
Desert Medical Campus
|
|
The Coral Desert Medical Campus is underway with the
first building, the Coral Desert Health Center, under
construction in St. George, Utah. The campus, which
is located across from the Dixie Regional Medical Center,
will house a wide range of medical professionals and
services.
The 54,000-sq.-ft. health center is three levels, with
a steel-frame structure and EIFS and glass curtain wall
exterior. The building's architecture and color schemes
were designed to complement the surrounding developments.
The 18 tenants that will ultimately occupy the facility,
each with requirements that needed to be satisfied,
were actively involved in the design and construction
of their spaces.

Petra Inc. is proud of its involvement with the Idaho
National Guard in the construction of a new military
facility in Boise.
The 70,370-sq.-ft. facility, called the Readiness Center,
will combine several existing units into one area and
provide for future expansion.
The center provides administrative spaces, as well as
general storage, secure storage vaults for weapons,
locker room space and a 300-plus-person auditorium.
The ability to have constant communication is a key
aspect of this project. Upon completion, the facility
will be connected to government information sources
through telephone, data and fiber-optic lines.
The structure construction includes concrete foundations,
steel framing and steel roof trusses with a 24-gauge
prefinished standing-seam metal roof. Exterior walls
include brick veneer with CMU back, exterior doors equipped
with electronic locks, aluminum fame windows and glass
block.
Interior finishes include hollow metal doors, metal-stud
framing with gypsum board assemblies, acoustical ceilings,
tile and carpet flooring, paint and special finishes,
fire suppression and communication, and electrical systems.
The mechanical system includes chillers, boilers, air-handling
units and terminal units controlled by a "Landis

The Lehi High School project was a multiphase major
expansion involving additions at four separate locations
on the existing building. Major additions to the facility
include a two-story classroom; commons and administration
area; wrestling, fitness and receiving area; and a drama
theater area. The new commons addition adds a magnificent
entrance and focal point to the existing facility.
Major renovation work consisted of a complete kitchen
and locker-room remodels. Additionally, the existing
science classrooms were converted into art and other
types of classroom space. The seating in the auditorium
was refurbished, and a light-control balcony was added.
There were also additions to and renovation of the existing
parking and bus unloading spaces.
The work required extensive coordination between the
general contractor, the school district construction
coordinator and Lehi High School administration. These
efforts have allowed school to be in session while the
construction work progresses on schedule.
